Everything as a Grid: Meeting the energy demands of buildings
9:23
Buildings account for almost a third of the global energy consumption. However, the electrification and digital transformation allows buildings to readily adapt to the energy transition. Santino Graziani discusses how Eaton’s Buildings as a Grid approach allows building managers to add flexible, scalable solutions such as • Distributed energy resources (DERs) such as solar generation, battery storage and generators • Microgrids which combine the utility energy source and DERs to balance the buildings energy demand • Eaton Brightlayer software suite, enabling building managers the capability to monitor their electrical power infrastructure and conduct preventive maintenance on their systems Eaton’s Everything as a Grid (EaaG) approach also allows buildings to combine the above resources and pivot into an energy producer. Doing so will allow buildings to contribute to the energy transition thereby reducing their carbon footprint, manage energy costs and increase their resiliency. At the PSEC, we can show you all of this and discuss Everything as a Grid, Eaton’s approach to helping the world embrace the energy transition. Today, energy flows through the grid in more directions, creating more complexities, but also new potential. By viewing Everything as a Grid, we’re reinventing the ways power is distributed, stored and consumed.
